Nearly one year after the August 14 earthquake, there is much to do. This conference created an inclusive platform for conversations about doing better, both now and in the future.
A Haitian Solution and Rights-Based Disaster Response
A collective of organizations including Nou Pap Dòmi, Ansanm pou Ayiti, Konbit pou yon Ayiti Tèt Anwo (CHW-KATA), the Haitian Ladies’ Network, and the Haiti Response Coalition call on all those who operate in Haiti to pledge to meet these minimum standards.
Parent groups throughout the earthquake affected areas have organized to provide structures where their children can learn. The HRC steps in with building materials and the result is hundreds of children able to continue their studies this year.
Donations go towards the Haiti Response Coalition’s emergency response including direct cash support to families and temporary shelter made from local resources.
We call on the international community to stand in solidarity with Haitian calls for: a Haitian solution, a participatory democratic process, the right to free expression and the right to life.
